Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Chamberlin Enterprises LLC, which runs Scrabble Word Checker ("we," "us") about your use of scrabble-checker.com. By using the site, or by sending us a request through it, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
About this website
Scrabble Word Checker checks whether a word is valid in the official NWL2023 and CSW24 word lists, shows its definition and score, and offers a word judge for club and tournament play and a free word API. It is run by Chamberlin Enterprises LLC in Harbor Springs, Michigan.
Using the site
You are welcome to check words, link to any word page, and use the word judge at your club or tournament. Please do not:
- Use the site for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, or harm anyone.
- Send false information, impersonate someone else, or send spam or automated requests.
- Try to break into, overload, or disrupt the site, or get around its security or spam protection.
- Copy, scrape, or reuse the site's content, or use it to build a competing service.
- Upload or send anything that contains viruses or harmful code.
- Download the word lists page by page with automated scrapers.
We may block access to the site for anyone who breaks these rules.
Free API
The word API is free for reasonable use. Please cache responses and do not use it to rebuild or resell the word lists. We may limit or change the API at any time.
Word lists
The NASPA Word List 2023 Edition (NWL2023) is used under license from the North American Scrabble Players Association (NASPA). NASPA and the NASPA logo are trademarks of NASPA. NASPA Word List 2023 Edition © NASPA 2023. The copy included in this app is licensed for personal use. You may not use it for any commercial purposes. Collins Scrabble Words 2024 (CSW24) is copyright HarperCollins Publishers Ltd. The lists remain the property of their owners, and nothing on this site gives you a license to them.
Accuracy
We work hard to match the official lists exactly, but mistakes are possible. For official tournament rulings, your tournament director and the official adjudication tools have the final word. Definitions are short summaries and are not a full dictionary.
Support and ads
Support through Buy Me a Coffee is a voluntary gift and does not buy any service. Ads on the site are our own house ads.
Our content
The site's design, code, and original writing belong to Chamberlin Enterprises LLC. Scrabble is a trademark of Hasbro, Inc. in the United States and Canada and of Mattel, Inc. elsewhere. This site is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hasbro, Mattel, NASPA, or HarperCollins.
What you send us
When you send us a request, a message, photos, or other information, you confirm it is accurate and that you have the right to share it, and you let us use it to respond to you and provide our services, as described in our privacy policy. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
Other websites
Links to other sites, including NASPA, Collins, and Buy Me a Coffee, are provided for convenience. Those sites have their own terms, and we are not responsible for their content or availability.
Disclaimers
We work to keep this site accurate, secure, and available, but it is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will always be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or free of errors or harmful code.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Scrabble Word Checker is not responsible for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses that come from using or being unable to use this website, and our total responsibility for any claim about the website is limited to $100. These limits apply only to your use of the website. They do not change your rights under any separate agreement with us or under laws that cannot be limited.
Your responsibility
If you misuse the site or break these terms, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees.
Michigan law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. If you have a concern, please contact us first, and we will try to resolve it with you within 30 days. If we cannot, the dispute will be decided in the state or federal courts serving Emmet County, Michigan, and you and we agree to those courts.
Changes and general terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new date at the top, and it applies from that date forward. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. These terms, together with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement about your use of this website.
